Day 2 of Yonex Brunei Open

The second day of Yonex Brunei Open Ike-Shio Cup was dominated by the Athirah Team with most of their men doubles pairs through to their next rounds.

However the match of the night belonged to the pairing of Jasper Yu-Ak Halim who almost crashed out of their first round encounter with unseeded pairing of Ali Darwin-Abd Hannan.

Jasper Yu-Ak Halim who are the national no.1 pair (also representing Athirah Team) at the moment could not get their game going in the opening round. They took the first set nervously 22-20 then goes out of steam in the second set losing 17-21 and pushed for a third game.

In the decider, Jasper Yu-Ak Halim who were still struggling to overcome the drifts and lighting in the stadium trailed by 16-20 and that should have sealed their fate in early exits. However, lady luck was on their side which saw a wonderful comeback. Sheer determination! And they sent home Ali Darwin-Abd Hannan 25-23.

Jasper Yu-Ak Halim, a "wake up call" for more consistent form.

The boys in blue won it in the end.
